Monday November 11, 2013 is Remembrance Day. As a class, we have been discussing the importance of this day. The Grade 4/5 students were asked to complete either a 1-2 paragraph or 8-line free verse poem on why we remember. We will be sharing our written work with each other on Monday to commemorate Remembrance Day. At 10:30 a.m. there will be a school assembly to acknowledge, and show our respect to the brave men and women who have and continue to risk their lives so we can live in a democratic society.
Report cards will be going home on Tuesday November 12 and interview forms were sent home today. Please ensure they are returned as soon as possible as times will be scheduled on first come first served basis.
Just a friendly reminder that tomorrow will be our Halloween dance (during the afternoon) and any students interested may come to school in their costumes. It will cost $3.00 or $2.00 (along with a non-perishable food item or a gentle used article of clothing - which will be going towards our school winter and food drive). Snacks will also be sold and the funds raised from the dance will be going towards the purchase of technological devices for our school.
Parents, please read the school letter that was sent home today regarding this Thursday's Halloween Dance.
Attention parents, due to the overwhelming request of the students in Jr. Division, there will be a school dance taking place on Thursday October 31, 2013 during the afternoon for Grades 4,5, and 6 students. Costumes are welcome but not required. For those students not interested in the dance, alternate activities will be provided for the duration of the afternoon. If your child will not be attending school during the afternoon, please inform me either through a note in the agenda or a phone call to the school. Peanut Free treats are welcome and the students are looking forward to their first school dance.
It has been decided that this year's Halloween dance will only be for grades 6, 7 and 8 students. As a result, we will be having a class party instead during the afternoon of Thursday October 31, 2013. Parents are welcome to send "peanut free" treats if they would like. We will be watching a movie, playing games, and listening to music for the duration of the afternoon. If you have any questions, please do not hesitate to call me or send me a note in the agenda.
Thank-you, Ms. Lieu Thursday October 31, 2013 is Warden Avenue's first ever Halloween dance. More info to follow shortly.
