Grade 4/5: Students are asked to read the number of pages/chapters assigned by their group and complete the activity by Wednesday March 26, 2014. Meetings to discuss the novel will be every Wednesday and Friday.
Grade 4/5: This entire week has been allocated to speech presentations. Now that students have read their speeches infront of their peers and received feedback both positive and neagative, they must now make the necessary changes to help improve their speech and most importantly, they are encouraged to memorize it. Please assist your child with this by having them read their speeches to you everyday until they have memorized it. Also, encourage them to use expression, eye contact, and to speak clearly and loudly so everyone can hear. Your help is greatly appreciated!

Grade 4/5: Students have been working diligently on their speeches. Please assist your child by proof-reading their work for grammatical errors and for fluency. Speeches are due the last week of February and must be a minimum of two pages typed. (For clarification, please see the package given to your child two weeks earlier.)
Grade 4/5: Students need to continue working on their "rough" copy of their speeches. The focus is to write a speech based on a topic that they are interested or passionate about. Please ensure your speeches are a minimum of two pages but it can exceed that amount as well. Parents can help by proof-reading your child's speech for grammatical errors, fluency and content. Speeches are due the last week of February.
Grade 4/5: Students will begin presenting their Black History Power Point slideshow.
Grade 4/5: Your Black History month powerpoint presentations are due Monday, be ready to present your work! Also, our new novel study unit begins Monday.
Grade 4/5: Today the students were given their first Term 2 writing activity - report writing. As part of Black History month in February, students were asked to select one prominant person who contributed to Black History and create a powerpoint presentation which they will then share with the class next week. Students are asked to continue researching and taking notes at home and during tomorrow's double computer period, they will work on their powerpoint slide show.
Grade4/5: Students completed their procedure piece according to their grade. We will be completing another procedure piece whereby students will be given the opportunity to select their topic of choice. We will discuss this further in class on Monday.
Students have been working on their journal writing which they are expected to complete in class. However, some students were given permission to take it home to complete. Parents, please do not assist your child as this is to be done by them alone. Grade 4/5: Students are currently working on their procedure writing that is due by Friday January 17, 2014.
